Position Summary

As a Senior Data Scientist at Aptology, you’ll work with the Behavioral Science, Customer Success, and Engineering Teams to continuously develop and improve our next-generation AI/Machine Learning capabilities in our TeamWerks Platform.

This Is What You’ll Do…


  • Explore, interpret, and analyze datasets for patterns and insights
  • Build high-quality prediction systems that solve our customers’ business problems by:
    • Modeling these problems to supervised/unsupervised learning algorithm
    • Mapping business data to features
    • Performing proper feature engineering
    • Iterating with different Machine Learning models
  • Enhance Machine Learning frameworks to support continuous improvement of predictions and surfacing of new insights
  • Design, build, and deploy internal tools and processes to operationalize Machine Learning best practices within our existing platform and to automate manually intensive Data Science tasks
  • Sharpen our data science capacity by mentoring team members on building predictive models, experimental methodologies, and causal inference approaches
  • Develop and foster collaborative relationships with product management, behavioral science, customer success, and engineering teams to effectively serve our customers’ needs and exceed their expectations

What we are looking for:

  • MS degree in Data Science, Statistics, Engineering, or Applied Mathematics or equivalent
  • 5 years of quantitative analytics experience with a focus on statistical modeling, machine learning, forecasting, optimization, and/or predictive analytics
  • Deep understanding of Machine Learning techniques and algorithms (i.e. k-NN, Naïve Baynes, SVM, Decision Trees, Logistic Regression…), and extensive experience applying these techniques to real-world problems
  • Expert level knowledge in at least one of the following toolkits: R, Python, Weka. Expert knowledge to include the ability to visualize models and results and the ability to debug and troubleshoot code and models
  • Demonstrated ability to use Machine Learning frameworks, libraries, packages, and APIs
  • Experience with data visualization techniques and tools (e.g. ggplot2)
  • Experience with statistical skills such as distributions and statistical testing
  • Demonstrated ability to explain complex data science concepts in simple terms easily understood by non-technical audiences
  • Demonstrated ability to work with both big datasets and small datasets (n < 100)
  • Ability and inclination to work in a multi-disciplinary environment, and the desire to see ideas realized in practice
  • Ideally, some experience working with psychometric data
  • Ideally, some experience working with KPIs from sales and other customers facing roles
  • Excellent conversation, communication, and teamwork skills
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident, residing in the United States
